If you set this to "False", you'll then be able to specify a fixed port in the "Port number" field.
I have two services one ASMX and one WCF service hosted.
Recently it occurred to me to set the web service as the startup project, start it, and mouse over the ASP.
NET Development Server icon on the system tray to find out the port number that it has chosen.
In that case though we generate the new proxy how to tell the application to use the newly generated one?
Any article or sample application would be really very helpfull.
The web reference is set to 'Dynamic URL' and the web service is using the ASP. When the error occurs the icon for the service never shows up in the system tray. The more drastic workaround is to delete the web reference and recreate it.
This has worked for me everytime, but has caused some confusion for Subversion and Ankh SVN.
You can use svcutil ( tool to generate the web reference for you.
The tool will generate the proper client proxy classes and the proper config (and it can even merge it in your application config). Net 3.0 and will generate WCF-style client proxies and configuration.
To be clear, initially if we add a web reference in Visual studio and later if the web service is chnaged we update the web refercne by right clicking the web reference and clicking on update web refernce.
