The original DS saw two remakes over the course of its life, first with the DS Lite in 2006 and then with the DSi and DSi XL in 2009.With its clamshell design reminiscent of the Game Boy Advance SP, the Nintendo DS was a durable machine.

Nintendo also released an additional firmware update (184.108.40.206) for the 3DS after it emerged that some games may have come into problems with the 220.127.116.11 update. So any 3DS with cards that are 18.104.22.168 compatible will also be compatible with Nintendo’s 22.214.171.124 firmware update.
Many of the genuine card manufacturers have already provided fixes for the majority of the firmware updates.
The design of the original model was built well enough that children could drop it without damaging it — a major concern of Nintendo’s and an advantage over the PSP.
